There is a disturbing, yet often unseen, beauty where industry and nature meet. We are pumping oil from the earth, but somehow within these monstrosities there are hidden elements of artistry. There is a tension between the hatred of these objects and their processes with the obsession of their visual attraction. In this series I am beginning to explore this dichotomy by constructing machines out of the earthly material of clay and the often hidden industrial material of copper pipe. In the future I hope to bring an augmented reality element to this work to bring the sculptures to life.
