Cherry, 3-D printed materials

Designed by Neri Oxman, Gemini Alpha is a sculptural chaise made of solid Cherry and lined with a 3-D printed rubber cellular skin produced by Stratasys. SITU Fabrication produced the complex form by adhering laminate slices of Cherry lumber and milling it with a 5-axis CNC router.  As CNC operator, I assisted in programming the CNC operations, ran the machine, and troubleshot operation that encountered conflict. The chaise functions as an acoustic chamber that one can lie within and experience reflection of the voice.
