Our recipe

25%  Kaolin (#6 Tile)

25% Ball Clay (C and C)

25% Feldspar (G200)

25% Flint

35mL of Water to 100g of dry mix

This makes a tacky, sticky, thick slip that extrudes well. When mixing larger amount you can use a bit less water, down to about 30mL per 100g.

This is a versatile high fire porcelain recipe that can be fired from Cone 6 to Cone 10. We color it by mixing in an oxide such as Crome (Green), Cobalt (Blue), or Red Iron (Red).

The system

We are using Shopbot's gantry system, that we have attached an aluminum plate with a 3d printed part to hold a syringe, to make our ceramic 3d prints. The syringe is attached to an a compressed air line with a regulator on it, so that we can adjust the extrusion rate of the slip.

our first print

This was our first attempt and I would say it went pretty well.
